What is good powerpoint presentation?

A good power point presentation consists of two strong point, layout and content.

Layout:

According to Russell, (about.com), and Marquez (2010), slide layout is important, thus we need to have a title on every slide and furthermore place the important points higher to the top.

Furthermore both Russell, (about.com), and Marquez (2010), agreed that a power point presentation needs to be kept simple, thus this means the limit of punctuation and avoid fancy fonts, use Arial or Times New Romans.

On top of that both of them also said that a simple background (Marquez, 2010) is more than sufficient, use background such as dark text with light background (Russell, about.com).

Example of a good slide:

Content:

According to Rothman (2005), good writing involves relaying specific information directly and literally to the readers. Furthermore the content, must not be ambiguous, thus this means the reader must understand instantly what is being conveyed to them, without being interpreted differently (Turk, 2006).

According to Kaulgud (2010), the key to a good presentation is content, furthermore he encourages the use of pictures as sometimes words cannot explain or cannot describe in detail what a picture can show.

Furthermore there should not be too many slides in the presentation (Marquez, 2010), because the longer the presentation, the higher the chances of losing your audience’s attention. Once their attention is lost, nothing from the presentation would be retain by them.

Therefore the content of the power point needs to stay focus, within the scope of the topic and it should be made short and sweet, to capture and retain as much attention from the reader as possible.
